Fatal accident at Highways 61 and W

A Monday morning accident on Highways 61 and W left one man dead.
According to the Missouri State Highway Department, Donald W. Johnson, 73, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on Highway W.
At about 6:10 a.m., he attempted to cross Highway 61 and was struck by a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am which was traveling southbound on Highway 61 and was being driven by Lisa M. Scott, 30, from Moscow Mills.
Johnson was airlifted to St. John’s Hospital in Creve Coeur. He was pronounced dead at 7:48 a.m.
Johnson’s passenger, Andrea I. Johnson, 72, from Inver Grove Heights, Minn., suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital West by ambulance.
Scott also suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital West by ambulance.
All three were wearing seatbelts.
