On Sunday, September 7th, 2008, the City of Wentzville Parks and Recreation Department is hosting “The Hill of Thrills” soapbox derby race.  This year the Wentzville Fire Protection District’s Fire Education program is sponsoring a soapbox derby car.

The fire engine red car with realistic flames promotes fire safety by reminding everyone that smoke detectors save lives and every home should have working smoke detectors.  The car also has a memorial to the 343 firefighters lost on 9-11-01.

The soapbox derby car will be a rolling fire safety billboard for years to come.  The career and volunteer firefighters helped fund the purchase of this car along with the awesome paint scheme and graphics.

The firefighters would like to thank Red Beard Kustoms at (636) 751 – 4333 who designed the very realistic paint scheme and donated much of the time and materials to paint the car.

The firefighters want the children to see that being safe can be fun and this car will be used in years to come to promote Fire Safety.

For more information on the “The Hill of Thrills” event, please consult the City of Wentzville web-site at www.wentzvillemo.org/park7.htm.
