From the Wentzville Fire Protection District
June 09,2009
Wentzville
The Wentzville Fire Protection District invites the public to join in celebrating the arrival of the Fire District’s first ladder truck. The new truck will be designated unit # 9842 and be assigned to Station # 4.
The fire district will be having a fire safety open house on Saturday, June 20th, 2009 at Fire Station #4, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The fire station is located at 8200 Orf Road in Dardenne Prairie.
The new ladder truck will be on display along with other fire safety equipment and tours of the fire station. The Tori’s Kids fire safety trailer and ARCH Air Medical Helicopter will also be on display.
The Wetdown Ceremony will begin at 1:30 PM. A “Wetdown” is traditionally a celebration in which the neighboring fire departments or the firefighters stationed on the new truck share in the joy of a new piece of fire apparatus by wetting down the new truck with a fire hose. This ceremony borrows from the tradition of christening a newly commissioned ship in the U.S. Navy.
Stop by and join in the fire department’s history. Free food and drinks will be provided.
The Wentzville Fire District covers 88 square miles of Western St. Charles County and includes the cities of Wentzville, Foristell, Flint Hill, and Josephville; as well as large portions of Lake St. Louis, Dardenne Prairie and O’Fallon.
