A motor vehicle accident occurred Saturday afternoon resulting in serious injuries for one passenger.

At about 2:00 p.m. on Sept. 25, a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass was being driven by Michael T. Lovell, 19, of Curryville, in the left lane northbound on Highway 61, just south of Point Prairie Road.

A 16-year-old driver from Moscow Mills was in the right lane, also northbound on Highway 61, just south of Point Prairie Road in a 2000 KIA Sportage.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Cutlass attempted to change lanes which caused it to strike the driver’s side of the KIA Sportage. Both vehicles started to spin and traveled off the left side of the roadway. The KIA overturned.

Lovell sustained minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Health Center East by St. Charles County Ambulance.

Virginia L. Aurich, 51, from Moscow Mills, was an occupant in the KIA Sportage and suffered serious injuries. Aurich was taken to St. Joseph Health Center East by St. Charles County Ambulance.

All were wearing seatbelts during the accident.
