The passenger in the accident, Steven M. Bennett, 18, of O’Fallon, was pronounced dead at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center Thursday morning. The driver, Michael A. Conley, 18, of Wentzville, is in critical condition. See original article below:

At about 12:40 a.m. Thursday, Michael A. Conley, 18, of Wentzville, was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse westbound on I-70, just west of Wentzville Parkway.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Conley was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the roadway before overturning several times.
Conley suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur by Air Evac.
A passenger riding with Conley, Steven M. Bennett, 18, of O’Fallon, was also seriously injured. Bennett was taken to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur by Arch Air Ambulance.
Both Conley and Bennett were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. The vehicle was totaled.
