Timberland High School’s Varsity Cheerleading Squad captured 12th place in the National High School Cheer Competition (NHSCC).
The event was held at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on February 12 – 14. The NHSCC is celebrating its 30th year of competition, and the Timberland squad contended for top honors with more than 400 teams from all over the nation.
This was the first year the team has competed on the national level, and Timberland participated in the Small Coed division. The squad raised money for the trip through a variety of fundraisers that included selling raffle tickets and sweatshirts and hosting a cheer competition.
“I knew this year was going to be special,” said Timberland Cheer Coach Laura Wooten. “I have been a cheer coach for 18 years and this is the most talented squad I have ever coached. But talent is only a small piece of what makes this team so special. They are amazing young adults who make me so proud to say I am their coach.”
