Robert Meadows Jr., a sophomore at Timberland High School, was awarded first place in the St. Charles County American Legion High School Oratorical Contest.

With the win, Robert has earned a $29,600 scholarship to Lindenwood University, and will go on to compete at the district level in January. The American Legion sponsors the 70-year-old Oratorical Contest for high school students to present participants with a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the United States Constitution. The contest is an academic speaking challenge that teaches important leadership qualities, the history of our nation’s laws, the ability to think and speak clearly, and an understanding of the duties and responsibilities, rights and privileges of American citizenship.

Robert is the son of Robert Sr. and Katherine Meadows of O’Fallon, Missouri.
