Pink Ribbon/Heals Tour to assist local families

The Pink Ribbon Tour has moved on to the East Coast of the United States, but its effects are still being felt right here in St. Charles County.
After the accounting is done, the Pink Ribbon/Heals event raised $12,000 to donate to the families of local women battling cancer. The Pink Tour selection committee will now decide how these funds will be divided among the applicants for assistance.
The committee had received 11 applications for assistance from Wentzville and the surrounding communities prior to the event. The deadline was September 1, 2009. The selection committee is made up of firefighters and members of the community. The committee has sent surveys to the 11 women to find out where they need the help most.
The Wentzville Firefighters Community Outreach Association wants to thank the sponsors, local business and everyone that came out on September 19, 2009 for the Pink Ribbon/Heals event. Your participation in this event helped make it a success. The Fire District has received numerous e-mails and letters from cancer survivors who were present that day expressing their thanks to the fire department and to the community for its support of the fight against cancer.
As a way of showing their continued support for the families battling cancer and to cancer survivors, the firefighters and staff of the Wentzville Fire District and many other departments in St. Charles County are wearing pink duty shirts throughout the month of October. There are also a number of t-shirts commemorating the event on September 19 on sale for $10 each at Wentzville Fire Station #1 at 209 West Pearce Boulevard, Wentzville, Missouri with the proceeds going to the Outreach Committee’s program. The firefighters and staff of the Wentzville Fire Protection District hope to see you again next year for this event.
The Wentzville Fire District covers 88 square miles of Western St. Charles County and includes the cities of Wentzville, Foristell, Flint Hill and Josephville; as well as large portions of Lake Saint Louis, Dardenne Prairie and O’Fallon.
