Mark McClelland, a senior pitcher and shortstop on the Holt Indians baseball team, has committed to play college baseball at Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa.
With his mom Deana at his side, Mark signed his NJCAA National Letter of Intent at Holt High School. Last year he hit .346 with 23 runs and 5 stolen bases. In 31 innings as a starting pitcher, Mark had a 3-1 record with a 3.80 ERA and 24 strikeouts.
“He is a competitor, plays hard each day, and does a fine job on the hill and at shortstop,” said head coach Joel Adam. “His goal is to be an all-state player this year, and hit 90 MPH on the radar gun.”
Mark was selected as a captain this year by his teammates and would like to coach one day at the minor league or college level.
