More than 1,400 high school marketing students and their teachers gathered (March 14-16) for the 62nd Missouri DECA State Career Development Conference at the Lodge of Four Seasons at the Lake of the Ozarks.

DECA is an international association of high school students studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service.

The Holt High School DECA Chapter was awarded DECA State Chapter of the Year for the second year in a row, and Jarrett Ingram, Holt DECA President, presented the Gold Level Chapter Activities Project.

“Achieving Chapter of the year was a great accomplishment for Holt DECA,” said Ingram. “We worked hard all year to get involved in important community projects.”

The Activities Project consisted of documentation of all of Holt DECA’s accomplishments in the areas of Leadership Development, Community Service, Vocational Understanding, and Social Intelligence.

“I am so very proud of all the students, Holt DECA has risen above all the expectations that I had for them this year and are committed to excellence,” said Jolene Wofford, DECA Advisor.

The following Holt students qualified for the DECA International Competition and will be competing in Louisville, Kentucky in April: Jarrett Ingram, Erika Bogolin, Megan Gatschenberger, Dylon Sacco, Ryan Price, Ryan Grass, Lindsey Ralls, Chrissy Caldwell, Jen Rucker and Brooke Glass.

Timberland High School students that qualified for international competition were: Emily Wall, Joelynn Laterwasser, Melissa Siegrist, Nikki McGee and Jake Boly.
