The Wentzville Fire Protection District recently received another donation of two sets of pet oxygen masks.  The donation came from Cindy and Scott Schultz and the Wentzville Masonic Lodge.  The Schultz’s are Wentzville residents and pet lovers.  Mr. Schultz is a member of the Wentzville Masonic Lodge.

The Pet oxygen kits were presented to Fire Inspector Chris Newbold at the Wentzville Masonic Lodge on Wednesday, September 15th, 2010.  The fire district now has three sets of these kits on its apparatus.  The kits contain 3 different size masks (small, medium and large) that would match the size of the pet.

The Pet Oxygen Mask can be used to dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs and even birds.  On July 1st, 2010, Wentzville firefighters were able to use the first pet oxygen mask kit that had been donated in early June 2010.  The masks were used on a number of pets that lived in an apartment building involved in a structure fire.

The masks supplied by the Schultz’s are from WAG’N PET SAFETY GEAR Company as part of their Wag’N O2 Fur Life Program.  If you are interested in more information on the pet masks, please check out the following web-link: www.wagn4u.com.   The kits cost approximately $78 each.

The firefighters of the Wentzville Fire Protection District are dedicated to serving the resident’s of our community.  This equipment will help us to better serve the needs of those exposed to the harmful effects of smoke inhalation and to bring families back together.
