David Nielsen recognized as Teacher of the Year

Timberland High School math teacher David Nielsen has been selected as the Wentzville School District Teacher of the Year for 2009.
Mr. Nielsen holds two Masters Degrees and has been at Timberland for three years. He helped to implement the Math Department’s Advanced Placement program, and he is also the faculty sponsor for the Timberland Math Team.
Candidates are judged on the respect and admiration of students, parents and colleagues. Selection is also based on their ability to inspire and educate students of all backgrounds and abilities. They should also play active roles in their communities and provide service and leadership in civic, religious or humanitarian endeavors. As the winner of the District Teacher of the Year, Mr. Nielsen is now eligible to compete in the Missouri Teacher of the Year program which is conducted annually by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, in conjunction with the national Teacher of the Year program.
