According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, on June 23 at about 5:10 p.m., some westbound vehicles were stopped due to traffic congestion on Interstate 70, east of Highway 79.

Amy L. Perry, 39, of Moscow Mills failed to observe the stopped vehicles and the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer she was driving struck the rear of a 2005 GMC Canyon, driven by Christine I. Belker, 43 of Wright City. This caused a chain reaction.

The GMC Canyon struck the rear of a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Christopher D. Smith, 30, of Wright City which caused that vehicle to strike the rear of a 2007 Dodge Dakota, driven by Todd K. Snavely, 38, of Wentzville.

Perry received minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake Saint Louis by St. Charles County Ambulance.

All drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
