Drivers can expect lane closures on southbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive from Veterans Memorial Parkway to McMenamy Road during the upcoming week following Labor Day. Lane closures are needed for concrete replacement work as the Mid Rivers Mall Drive Resurfacing project continues.

Construction activity will take place on southbound lanes overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, but some lane closures are expected to continue through daytime hours to allow new concrete to cure. Various lane closures are expected through Saturday morning, Sept. 11, 2011, weather permitting.

Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes when possible to avoid delays. In particular, drivers exiting Interstate 70 for southbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive can expect delays, especially during the evening rush hour.

Alternate routes to businesses along Mid Rivers Mall Drive include South Church Street to McMenamy Road, Grand Teton Drive to Suemandy Drive, and Veterans Memorial Parkway to the north entrance to Mid Rivers Mall. (See attached map showing alternate routes to businesses.)

On northbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive, all concrete replacement work is complete, except on some turn lanes. All current northbound lane closures are expected to reopen on Saturday, Sept. 3.

The Mid Rivers Mall Drive Resurfacing project is taking place between Mexico Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway. The resurfacing project is removing damaged concrete pavement, curb and gutter, and sidewalk sections, adding and upgrading sidewalk accessible ramps, diamond-grinding new and existing concrete pavement, and resurfacing existing asphalt pavement. In addition to pavement and sidewalk repairs, the traffic signals at the Mid Rivers Mall Drive intersections of Suemandy Drive, Mid Rivers Plaza commercial entrance, and McMenamy Drive will be replaced.

Updates on this project will be posted online at www.stpetersmo.net.
