St. Peters sponsors tour to Blackwater and Arrow Rock
July 13, 2011
St. Peters, MO
Explore both newly restored historic towns of Blackwater and then Arrow Rock to observe the village and enjoy a theatrical performance at the newly renovated Lyceum Theatre in this narrated tour presented by St. Peters motorcoach on Friday, August 26, 2011.
Blackwater was a once pivotal coal and water stop for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. It will bring you back in time with its conventional array of unique shops and gardens along the famous Main Street. Meanwhile take the time to check out the Iron Horse Hotel and the telephone museum followed by a stop at City Hall or the local café.
After a short drive, lunch will be served in Arrow Rock at the historic Huston Tavern, which served meals along the Santa Fe Trail since 1834. It is the oldest continuously operating restaurant west of the Mississippi River that features family-style fried chicken and glazed ham dinners, steaks, fresh fish and slow roasted meats.
After lunch experience the wonders of the beautifully restored Arrow Rock, and visit the excellent state museum, boardwalk shops and the George Caleb Bingham Home. Afterward, there will be a live repertory theatre performance of “Try to Remember” by The Fantasticks at the Arrow Rock’s award-winning Lyceum Theatre.
On the way home, there will be a quick stop at the Russell Stover outlet for candy and ice cream to take home.
There is a $98 per-person fee that includes admissions, lunch, guide motorcoach, and gratuities.
St. Peters’ motorcoach tours meet on the west side of City Hall, One St. Peters Centre Blvd. in St. Peters, MO. The tour will depart at 7:30 a.m. and return at 8:30 p.m.
