Get ready to put those New Year’s resolutions into action. You can choose from a wide variety of fitness classes and programs at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. Registration for a new semester of classes is now open to everyone.
Kettlebell classes have become a popular way for people to work out, lose weight, and gain strength and endurance at the Rec-Plex. The class uses the kettlebell in a number of exercises for cardio and strength training.
Rec-Plex GOLD PLUS member Shelly Scopel said that she lost 100 pounds in a year through kettlebell classes and diet. “What they get into that one half-hour of kettlebell, it’s amazing!” Shelly said.
New Real Fitness Bootcamp classes offer another way to work with certified trainers to reach fitness goals. The class uses body weight exercises, strength training and cardiovascular activities three mornings each week. The Baby Boomer Bootcamp Challenge, meanwhile, meets two mornings each week for boomers looking to live a longer, healthier life.
The Rec-Plex offers many other fitness classes, including Family Fitness Classes for youth as well as 50+ Fitness classes for seniors. Yoga and Pilates are other options. For a low-impact, calorie-burning workout, try Rec-Plex Xtreme (RPX) Cycling classes on the Spinning® bikes, or Aqua Aerobics classes in the water.
Other programs open to registration at the Rec-Plex include ice skating, hockey, swimming, indoor triathlons, instructional baseball, and adult leagues for volleyball, flag football and softball.
Sign up for Rec-Plex classes by phone at 636.939.2386, ext. 1400, or in person at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Road, any time Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The registration desk is closed on Sundays and city holidays.
