The St. Peters Police Department participated in the National Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Week Law Enforcement Campaign conducted Sept. 12 through Sept. 19, 2009.

During the enforcement effort, officers issued a total of 80 traffic tickets including: 15 safety belt tickets; 53 speeding tickets; and 12 other traffic violations.

“Child safety seats and safety belts are your single best defense in a crash,” stated Chief Tom Bishop. “Law Enforcement will continue to encourage parents/caregivers and all drivers to make a simple, smart choice to buckle up, buckle their children up every trip—every time, and Arrive Alive.”

Funding for this effort was provided through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Missouri Safety Center.

From the St. Peters Police Department.
