New Year’s Eve lock-in; fun celebration for kids

New Year’s Eve celebrations aren’t just for adults! Let your kids ages 8-13 have the time of their lives at the New Year’s Eve Lock-In at St. Peters’ Rec-Plex. They can ring in the New Year with swimming, ice skating and more from 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, all the way up to 7 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
Parents, rest assured that the Rec-Plex staff will provide a safe environment for your child to enjoy a fun and entertaining New Year’s Eve celebration. Kids can spend time in the pool area swimming, playing on the slide and diving boards or participating in the cannon ball contest, playing broom ball and limbo on the ice as well as games like bingo, trivia, a scavenger hunt and more. DJ Funk Master will provide the tunes for the night, and the kids will enjoy the bounce house in the gym and balloon drop at midnight.
“The New Year’s Eve Lock-In is the perfect opportunity for parents to enjoy a night out celebrating with friends, confident that their children are in a safe environment enjoying a variety of fun activities,” said Alderman Gus Elliot. “Kids will love all that the lock-in has to offer, so why not let them celebrate New Year’s Eve with friends and fun?”
The cost is $50 per child for St. Peters residents and Rec-Plex passholders and $60 per child for the general public. Each child must be registered in advance. If space is available, late registrations will be accepted on Dec. 31 until 1 p.m. and will be subject to a late charge of $15 per child. No registration will be taken at the door. Lock-in participants can purchase items from the food court during the event.
Parents can check in their children at the Rec-Plex any time after 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, and must pick them up by 7 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1. An emergency contact/parental authorization form must be completed and submitted at check-in. The parental authorization form is available at the Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Road, and online at stpetersmo.net.
