Mid Rivers Mall Drive project to require lane closures

Drivers can expect lane closures on Mid Rivers Mall Drive in the coming days as a major resurfacing project continues between Mexico Road and Interstate 70.
The asphalt portion of Mid Rivers Mall Drive from McMenamy to Mexico Road will be removed and repaved during overnight hours (9 p.m.-7 a.m.) beginning Thursday. Weather permitting, asphalt milling operations are scheduled for the evenings of Thursday and Friday, Oct. 20-21, 2011. Weather permitting, asphalt paving operations are scheduled for the evenings of Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 24-25, 2011.
The concrete portion of Mid Rivers Mall Drive from I-70 to McMenamy Road will undergo diamond grinding for a smoother surface. This work is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 26-28, Wednesday-Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Damaged concrete was previously replaced on this section of Mid Rivers Mall Drive. Both new and existing concrete will be diamond-ground.
Lane closures will be limited to one lane in one direction only while this resurfacing work takes place. Drivers are urged to drive carefully through the construction zone and to seek alternate routes when possible to avoid delays.
Alternate routes to businesses along Mid Rivers Mall Drive include South Church Street to McMenamy Road, Grand Teton Drive to Suemandy Drive, and Veterans Memorial Parkway to the north entrance to Mid Rivers Mall.
The Mid Rivers Mall Drive Resurfacing project is removing damaged concrete pavement, curb and gutter, and sidewalk sections, adding and upgrading sidewalk accessible ramps, diamond-grinding new and existing concrete pavement, and resurfacing existing asphalt pavement. In addition to pavement and sidewalk repairs, the traffic signals at the Mid Rivers Mall Drive intersections of Suemandy Drive, Mid Rivers Plaza commercial entrance, and McMenamy Drive will be replaced.
