Your daughter can learn the fundamentals of hockey in a new St. Peters Rec-Plex class, Girl Hockey Skating. Hockey is a fast-growing sport for female athletes, so this is a great opportunity for area skaters ages 7 to 12 to learn the basics. The class instructor will teach students skating skills like forward strides, forward and backward edge work, hockey stops, and some puck work.

This seven-week class will be held at the St. Peters Rec-Plex north ice rink on Saturdays from 11:15 to11:45 a.m. beginning Aug. 21. The cost is $66 for Rec-Plex passholders and $76 for the general public. Skate rental is included in the class fee.

All interested participants must pass Basic 1 skating class as a prerequisite for enrollment to Girls Hockey Skating.

As a bonus, all class participants receive free admission to Rec-Plex public skating sessions for the duration of their registered course. The course registration receipt must be shown to the front desk and skate rental counter attendants to gain admission.

For more information on this class or other hockey skating classes, visit www.stpetersmo.net. Register online using the Rec-Connect feature at www.stpetersmo.net, in person at the St. Peters Rec-Plex, 5200 Mexico Road or by phone at 636-939-2386 ext. 1400.
