Fatal fire in St. Peters

A man died in a house fire Wednesday afternoon on Lippizan Road in St. Peters in the Carriage Way Subdivision.
Authorities stated the fire was contained to just one room in the basement of the home. The fire was small, but there was enough smoke to overcome the victim.
A repairman from a nearby apartment building noticed smoke on top of the home. Later, a mailman heard screaming from the home, evidently when the woman of the house arrived and opened the front door revealing smoke inside.
It has been reported that the man’s wife knew something was wrong when he did not arrive to pick her up from work.
