Cross swords with fencing classes and camps

Who says you can’t have fun and work out at the same time? Armed with a sword and proper protection you can face off against an opponent in Fencing classes available at the St. Peters Rec-Plex and Cultural Arts Centre this summer.
Fencing is a martial art developed from several hundred years of the sword’s evolution. This is an activity for anyone, from kids as young as 10 to adults. Learn the basics of proper en garde position, stance, defense, attacks, and courtesy. In an eight-week class you’ll develop camaraderie, self-discipline, reflexes, balance, fitness and critical thinking skills.
Starting July 30, the St. Peters Rec-Plex will be offering Basic Classical Fencing and Intermediate Classical Fencing classes.
Basic Classical Fencing will meet on Saturdays from 2-3 p.m. The cost to register is $61 for Rec-Plex pass-holders and $71 for the general public.
Intermediate Classical Fencing will meet on Saturdays from 3-4 p.m. The cost to register is $72 for Rec-Plex pass-holders and $82 for the general public.
The Cultural Arts Centre will also be offering Basic Classical Fencing starting August 29. This class will meet on Monday evenings from 7-8 p.m. The cost to register is $61 for residents and $71 for the general public.

In addition to the Fencing classes being offered this summer; the Cultural Arts Centre is offering two fencing camps for kids 9-14 years.
Fencing 101 will be held July 25-29.
Fencing 102 will be held Aug. 8-12. Kids must take Fencing 101 to register in Fencing 102.
