After months of preparations, St. Peters organizers are ready to welcome thousands of guests to the City’s newest park for Celebrate St. Peters 2011. The FREE festival will take place at 370 Lakeside Park in St. Peters Friday, Sept. 16, through Sunday, Sept. 18.

Enjoy the breeze coming off the lake while listening to ten different bands over the three days. All entertainment is absolutely free. The main stage will be set against the backdrop of the lake with all activities taking place on the grounds a short walk away.

Friday night, four local bands–– Serapis, Mr. Wizard, Nickels and Project 3––vied to be named to St. Peters 370 Lakeside Park’s “Walk of Fame.”  The winner will be chosen by online votes at stpetersmo.net. Voting will be open from Friday night through 9 a.m. Sunday morning. The band receiving the most votes will be named during the Sunday afternoon concert.

Music will fill the air again on Saturday from 1:30-5 p.m. as Four Alarm takes the stage, followed by Rogers & Nienhaus, the Mondin Band, and Kimberly Cash.

Fans of the classic rock band Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young are in for a special treat as the tribute band 4 & 20 performs the evening concert at the Celebrate St. Peters event at 370 Lakeside Park. The concert begins at 7:30 with a fireworks display scheduled during the band break at approximately 9 p.m.

Local favorite Smash Band will conclude the weekend’s music on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1 p.m.

Come hungry, because we’ll have some great food available all weekend. In addition to the food tent on the festival grounds, just west of the festival grounds you’ll find the Lakeside Que-topia Barbeque contest featuring 300 entrants on Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Families will enjoy some quality time engaged in activities that won’t break the bank, such as the game booths, bounce house, and obstacle course on Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. or on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.  Tickets are just 50¢ with activities requiring only one ticket.

On Saturday beginning at 8 a.m., we’ll have a 10K run and a 1-mile fun run/walk that families will enjoy.

You won’t want to miss the Channel Cat Kayak Crawl beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday. This kayak race will take place in the channel between the main festival grounds and the RV park where the barbeque competitions are being held.

St. Peters Police Chief Tom Bishop will challenge St. Charles County Sheriff Tom Neer in a paddle boat race on Sunday afternoon beginning around 2 p.m.

To get to 370 Lakeside Park, take either Hwy 370 or I-70 to Cave Springs/Truman Road. Follow the road north right into the park. Free shuttle parking is available approximately ¾ mile south of the park off Cave Springs/Truman Road
