Dedicated employees volunteer after closing of fig.
December 17, 2007
On December 7, 2007, fig. closed 17 of its 18 lipodissolve centers nationwide and will likely file bankruptcy. The only center remaining open is the Costa Mesa, CA center, which is independently owned and operated.
The company is considering bankruptcy protections to allow for the future ability to reorganize and continue operations.
On December 14, CEO Rob Semaan, said that some dedicated employees were volunteering their time to assist patients, staff and vendors. fig. had employed about 500 people nationwide.
According to the fig. website, current patients undergoing treatment will be contacted by the company regarding treatment options or making a refund claim. St. Charles County W.O.R.L.D.S. attempted to call their number, 1-800-547-1600, but no one answered the phone.
Current patients are encouraged to contact the Missouri Attorney General, 800-392-8222 and fig. employees affected by the closure are encouraged to contact the U.S. Department of Labor 866-4-USA-DOL.
