Steven R. Rosenblatt, who has more than 25 years of experience as a senior manager of arenas, convention centers, amphitheatres, equestrian centers, fairgrounds and even auto racing tracks, has been hired as director of the Family Arena in St. Charles.
Owned and operated by St. Charles County Government, the Family Arena attracted more than 750,000 people in 2007 to a variety of events, such as sporting events, concerts, rodeos, ice shows and circuses.
Rosenblatt said he realizes as the director of the arena it will be his responsibility for setting “operating standards that are customer service based.”
“Many of my counterparts think we are in the arena or the event business,” he said. “I realized long ago that we are really in the customer service business. My operations people are geared towards providing excellent customer service, which can be defined as clean and presentable facilities, immaculate looking grounds, and a friendly, smiling, helpful staff.”
County Executive Steve Ehlmann presented Rosenblatt as his administration’s choice to direct the Family Arena to the County Council Monday night, and the Council approved his recommendation.
Rosenblatt replaces Nick Nichols, who served as arena director from September 2002 until he resigned on Jan. 22. Mike Buford, director of the Facilities Management department, has been the interim director of the arena and will continue in that role until Rosenblatt, currently a consultant based in Hickory, N.C., assumes the position next month.
