Volunteers needed for Heritage Museum
July 9, 2010
St. Charles County, MO
The St. Charles County Parks Department seeks volunteers interested in assisting with the daily operations of the St. Charles County Heritage Museum, which is expected to open later this year. The 6,000 square-foot facility will be a great addition to the community by educating the public about the history of St. Charles County and the role of citizens in its development.
Volunteers will play a crucial part in the daily operations of this facility by assisting with staffing needs and contributing to preservation efforts. To prepare for this undertaking, the department asks that interested parties attend two training sessions designed to acquaint volunteers with information about the Heritage Museum and various volunteer opportunities.
Both training sessions will be held in the first floor meeting room. Session One is scheduled July 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. This session will include an introduction to the museum and various volunteer opportunities. Session Two—from 6 to 8 p.m. on August 31—will cover volunteer job tasks, scheduling and museum operation. Those interested in volunteering at the Heritage Museum should reserve their place at these meetings by contacting Ryan Graham before July 19 by phone at 636-949-7535 or by email at rgraham@sccmo.org.
Once a popular recreation center for St. Charles County residents known as Kuhlman’s Grove, the 6,000 square-foot St. Charles County Heritage Museum will house historical collections detailing the advancement and cultural contributions of County residents.
The museum is located at 1630 Heritage Landing Road, with parking available at the site. To access the park from Highway 94, go east on Heritage Crossing Road to Gettysburg Landing Road. Turn left on Gettysburg Landing and cross Heritage Landing to the Heritage Museum parking lot.
