St. Charles, MO
On Friday, April 24 at about 4:10 p.m., a three-vehicle accident occurred in the westbound lanes on Interstate 70, west of Zumbehl.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Amy L. Smythe, 31, of Wentzville, was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion westbound on Interstate 70. Smythe failed to keep a proper lookout to the front and she struck the rear of a 2003 Honda Civic being driven by Shirley J. Thomas, 65, of O’Fallon. The force from the impact pushed the Civic into the rear of a 2005 Nissan Altima, being driven by Kendra D. Moore, 26, of St. Louis.
Moore suffered minor injuries and was taken to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Peters by St. Charles County Ambulance. An occupant in the vehicle with Moore, Lakishia Y. Wells, 24, of St. Louis, suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Peters by St. Charles County Ambulance.
Everyone involved, except Smythe, was wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
