October 14, 2010
St. Charles, MO
The St. Charles County Parks Department and Great Rivers Greenway announced today that the grand opening of the St. Charles County Heritage Museum at Heritage Park is planned for 10 a.m., on Friday, Oct. 22. The dedication of the museum will be preceded by a ribbon cutting ceremony to recognize the opening of the Centennial Trail.
Participating in the dedications will be:
· St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann
· St. Charles County Council Chairman John White
· St. Charles County Parks Director Bettie Yahn-Kramer
· Great Rivers Greenway Executive Director Susan Trautman
Located at 1630 Heritage Landing, the St. Charles County Heritage Museum celebrates the advancement and cultural contributions made by County residents throughout history. The site of this new park — which will be the department’s ninth facility opened to the public and the first located along the “Golden Triangle” — was a popular recreation center for residents more than a century ago named Kuhlman’s Grove and returns to its roots with this dedication. The park will also serve as a trailhead for the Centennial Trail, a two-mile path between the Heritage Museum and the Katy Trail.
Due to limited parking at the 1.5-acre park site, the dedication on Oct. 22 is open to invited guests and media only. The department will host a public open house on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
