Motorcycle slides into undercarriage of vehicle

On Tuesday, Oct. 20, at about 8:05 a.m., Rita A. Erwin, 40, from Troy was driving a 2009 Nissan Rogue eastbound on Interstate 70, west of Highway 370.
Christopher C. Hackworth, 40, of St. Charles, was also heading eastbound, riding a 2003 Honda motorcycle.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Hackworth was traveling at a high rate of speed when he came upon Erwin, who was stopped due to traffic. Hackworth laid the motorcycle on its side to avoid striking other vehicles, but slid into the undercarriage of the Nissan Rogue.
Hackworth sustained moderate injuries and was taken to St. Charles Health Center by St. Charles County Ambulance.
