St. Charles Police now believe the occupants of a car that was burning on I-70 ran from police because they may have been carrying drugs.
An occupant from that car got into a car on a nearby parking lot and the woman driver fled the scene. The car then entered Eastbound 70 and approached a stopped St. Charles Police car at the scene of the car fire. The driver reportedly swerved toward the officers on the scene.
At that point, fearing for their safety, at least one officer fired three shots at the vehicle.
