St. Charles
On Thursday, at about 8:50 a.m., authorities responded to a four-car accident on eastbound Highway 370, just west of Highway 94.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Alvin O. Bargen, 55, of St. Charles, was driving a 1996 GMC Safari. Bargen failed to stop for traffic congestion, which caused him to strike the rear of the vehicle stopped in front of him, a 2001 Ford F150, driven by Winston K. Jefferson, 39, of Wentzville.
The F150 driven by Jefferson then struck a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by Rita J. Voss, 50, of St. Charles.
After the impact, the GMC Safari also struck a 1997 Ford Econoline, driven by Dustin J. Skinner, 25, of St. Charles.
Jefferson suffered moderate injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Health Center by St. Charles County Ambulance. All drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Bargen was charged with driving while intoxicated.
