Car overturns on Interstate 70

On Friday, Aug. 28 at about 6:20 p.m., Willie J. Bates, 56, of St. Louis, was driving a 1996 Ford Ranger eastbound on Interstate 70 just west of 370.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Bates swerved to avoid debris in the roadway, overcorrected to the left, traveled off the roadway, struck a concrete barrier and overturned the vehicle.
Bates suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital by St. Charles County Ambulance. He was wearing a seatbelt during the accident.
Bates was charged with DWI at approximately 7:15 p.m.
