Vehicle crosses center line: Defiance woman dies

On Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 at about 5:35 p.m., Steven A. Hicks, 22, of O’Fallon, was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger eastbound on Route DD, just east of Diehr Road.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Hicks crossed the center line and struck the left front of a westbound 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Diane L. Fulkerson, 55, of Defiance.
Fulkerson was pronounced dead at the scene by St. Charles County Ambulance personnel.
Fulkerson’s passenger, Peter B. Adams, 33, of Wentzville, received minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital West by St. Charles County Ambulance.
Hicks sustained minor injuries and was also taken to St. Joseph Hospital West by St. Charles County Ambulance.
Hicks was charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony DWI.
