Parks Department implements winter hours
December 8, 2008
St. Charles County
The St. Charles County Parks Department has issued traditional winter hours at their regional parks. Until March 1, all parks (except the Youth Activity Park) will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
If visitors would like to use Klondike, Indian Camp Creek or Quail Ridge Parks beyond these hours, they must get a special use permit from the Director and rent the Quail Ridge Lodge, Curt Loupe Conference Center or a camping facility.
The Department has turned off the water to the shower house at Klondike Park and other designated restrooms inside each park as part of winterization efforts.
Youth Activity Park changes:
From December through March 20:
3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday (open to all ages);
noon to 8 p.m. on Friday (open to all ages);
noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday (open to all ages);
noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday (open to all ages).
4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays, the park will be limited to ages 12 to 18 only.
The YAP will close when temperatures and/or wind chill temperatures drop to 15 degrees or below. Park entry fees are still $3 per day, plus a yearly $5 membership. For more information about the YAP, call 636-561-4964.
