The College Board has announced that four recent Holt graduates and two Timberland graduates have earned AP Scholar Awards based on their outstanding performance on the Advanced Placement (AP) Exams.
Austin Gerit, Taylor Harrell, Randy Ray and Casey Tompkins, all 2009 Holt High School graduates, and Joseph Hoing and Randy Johnston, both 2009 Timberland High School graduates, earned the prestigious award.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school. Students have the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement in college, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.
About 18 percent of the nearly 1.7 million students worldwide who took AP Exams in the spring of this year performed at a sufficiently high level in order to earn the AP Scholar Award. AP Exams are graded on a scale of 1 through 5.
Hoing, Harrell, Ray and Tompkins each earned the Scholar Award for scoring 3.0 or higher on three or more AP exams.
Johnston earned the Scholar with Honor Award for having an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and scoring 3.0 or higher on four or more exams.
Gerit earned the National AP Scholar Award for having an average score of 4.0 or higher on all tests taken and scoring 4.0 or higher on eight or more exams.
The Wentzville School District takes great pride in their tremendous accomplishments!
