St. Charles County
Catch glimpses of some bald eagles and take a walk in the park, too, during the Passport to St. Charles County Parks event.
The St. Charles County Parks and Recreation department is hosting an eagle viewing/guided hike at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 28 at Hideaway Harbor Park. This 49-acre riverside park has served as a recreation center for more than 100 years. A spotting scope and binoculars will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own, if they like, as well as other supplies such as water.
Directions to Hideaway Harbor Park from St. Charles: Take Highway 94 North from Highway 370 until reaching Grafton Ferry Road (about eight miles). Turn left on Grafton Ferry Road and turn right on Portage Road until you reach Sioux Drive. Turn left on Sioux Drive into the park.
This event is the first in the nine-part “Passport” walking series. These walks will be held from February through October, and those who participate in at least four of the walks will earn a park T-shirt. Guests receive a “passport” that will be used to collect stamps signifying completion of each walk.
