Flood risk information open house
June 8, 2009
St. Charles County, MO
Property owners, realtors, lenders and insurance agents are encouraged to attend an upcoming open house to learn more about flood risk and hazard mitigation.
The open house will be held on Tuesday, June 16, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in rooms 115-116 in the St. Charles County Administration Building, 201 North Second Street in St. Charles.
A preliminary Flood Insurance Study (FIS) as well as preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) will be on display. These tools will offer information to be used when permitting development in the floodplain.
Various local state and federal agency members, including representatives from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Missouri State Emergency Agency (SEMA), will be on hand to answer questions.
The most noteworthy changes to the flood plain boundaries are along the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers as well as along Boschert Creek downstream from Highway 370.
