Discovery Ridge Elementary, one of the Wentzville School District’s two new elementary buildings scheduled to open in August, has received a $3,000 grant from the Lake Saint Louis Walmart. According to Discovery Ridge Principal Laura Bates, the grant will be used to purchase equipment that will benefit all students.

“Discovery Ridge appreciates this generous grant from our local Walmart store,” said Bates. “The funds—which will be used to purchase a sound system—will enable the school community to enjoy assemblies, graduations and student performances. We would like to express our gratitude for Walmart’s support of our new school.”

The grant is part of the Walmart Foundation’s commitment to communities across the country. According to Walmart’s corporate website, “by supporting education, the Walmart Foundation ensures that the leaders of tomorrow have access to the quality education opportunities they need to be successful today.”

Discovery Ridge is currently under construction and is located at 2523 Sommers Road in O’Fallon between Highways N and DD.
