Demonstrators protest at O’Fallon Wal-Mart

O’Fallon, Missouri

About a dozen activists assembled at the O’Fallon, Missouri Wal-Mart at noon on Halloween and distributed flyers titled, Wal-Mart and China.

The flyers state Wal-Mart’s links with China, such as:

70% of Wal-Mart’s products come from China;
Wal-Mart and China were referred to by the Washington Post as “the ultimate joint-venture;”
Wal-Mart lobbied to block the law when Congress voted to require stores to disclose where their food comes from; and
the flyer referred to the recalled products from China.

David Cook, a representative of wakeupwalmart.com*, talked with sccworlds.com. He stated that Wal-Mart’s wrongdoing also includes inadequate health care for workers as well as female and minority discrimination. Cook said that Wal-Mart is only concerned about the bottom line. “This is not Sam Walton’s Wal-Mart,” he said.

O’Fallon police arrived by 12:30 p.m. and observed without interfering.

Some of the protestors later told sccworlds.com they were asked to leave at about 1:30 p.m. They said that THF, owner of the property where Wal-Mart resides, requested the group’s departure. THF Realty Chairman Stan Kroenke is also husband of Wal-Mart heir Ann Walton.
