Stray bullet strikes lifeguard

On July 25, 2010, at approximately 6:45 p.m., the O’Fallon Police Department responded to Twin Chimneys Subdivision Pool for a reported injury to a lifeguard. The lifeguard is a 16-year-old O’Fallon resident.

It appeared that at approximately 6:30 p.m., a stray bullet fired from an unknown location struck the victim in the upper leg while she was performing her duties on the pool deck.
The victim was treated for minor injuries and released from a local hospital. It is possible that the projectile was fired from a significant distance away from the Twin Chimneys subdivision.

Anyone having knowledge of a firearm being discharged in the area north or northwest of the Twin Chimneys subdivision at the above date and time is asked to contact Detective Dean Frye at 636-379-5579.
