Shop, dine and enjoy the sights on upcoming day trips

Leave the driving to the O’Fallon’s Parks and Recreation Department and sign up for great day trips that take you to quaint places in St. Louis , the Dogwood Azalea Festival in Charleston , and for a day at the horse racing track in Illinois . Trips must be booked a month in advance. Please register as soon as possible to keep trips from being cancelled due to low enrollment.
- Nibble and Nosh – Meet the motor coach at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, for a day-long visit to “The Hill,” and we will nibble, nosh and shop our way through this famous Italian neighborhood known for great restaurants, bakeries and Italian food markets, returning to O’Fallon by 5 p.m. The cost of $75 for O’Fallon residents and $84 for non-residents includes transportation, tours, a guide, gratuities, and of course, a delicious lunch. Registration for Nibble and Nosh ends February 20.
- Dogwood Azalea Festival – Catch breathtaking dogwoods and azaleas at the peak of bloom in charming Charleston , Missouri , on Friday, April 15. The motor coach leaves Civic Hall at 7 a.m. and returns at 9:30 p.m. The day’s activities include visits to the Joseph Hunter Moore Home, the Gov. Warren Hearnes Museum, the D & R Classic Toy Trains display, the Molly French Garden Club plant sale, private residences with spectacular gardens, and the colorful UMC quilt show. The cost of $79 for O’Fallon residents, or $88 for non-residents, includes transportation, tours and admissions, a box lunch prepared by St. Henry’s, dinner at Lambert’s Café, the home of “throwed rolls,” gratuities and an escort. Registration ends March 15.
- Fairmount Park Horse Races – Bring a friend along for a fun-filled day of horse-racing at Fairmount Park in Collinsville , Illinois , on Tuesday, May 10. The motor coach departs from Civic Hall at 10:15 a.m. and returns at 5 p.m. The cost of $45 for O’Fallon residents, or $51 for non-residents, includes a deluxe luncheon buffet, a racing program, transportation, admission and taxes. Registration ends April 12.
