Rock Creek Elementary School on lock down

Subject is in custody (11:03 a.m.)
St. Charles County authorities are reporting that the subject is now in custody. The man is possibly a veteran, suffering from post traumatic stress.
Police helicopters called to the area were asked to pull back a short distance. The helicopter seemed to agitate the man, so it climbed higher relieving the tension while still being on the scene in case the subject went mobile.

At about 10:15 a.m., a man in the 1200 block of Glenmore in O’Fallon was reported as holding a gun to his head. The man has been in communication with police.
When police arrived, the man came out of the home briefly.
Behind the home is Rock Creek Elementary School, in the Fort Zumwalt District. The school is on lock-down at this time (10:30 a.m.)
Authorities are staging and an air unit is on the way.
