Rain backdrops motor vehicle accidents

Vehicle hydroplanes; causes accident:
On Friday, Oct. 9, at about 12:20 a.m., Kimo J. Mathis, 29, of Wentzville, was driving westbound on Interstate 70, west of Bryan Road in a 2008 Chrysler Sebring.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the vehicle hydroplaned and traveled off the right side of the roadway.
Mathis and an occupant in the vehicle, Danielle M. Matthews, 31, of O’Fallon, both suffered minor injuries and were taken to St. Joseph Hospital by St. Charles County Ambulance.
Matthews was wearing a seatbelt during the accident. Mathis was not.
Two-vehicle accident on Interstate 70:
On Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at about 8:50 a.m., William T. Wilson, 39, of Bridgeton, was driving a 2001 Honda Civic westbound on Interstate 70 west of First Capitol.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Wilson lost control of the vehicle while changing lanes to the left and spun counterclockwise. The left front of the Civic struck the right side of a westbound 2004 Chrysler Sebring, driven by Tiana M. Reese, 33, of Warrenton.
Reese suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles by St. Charles County Ambulance.
Wilson and Reese were both wearing seatbelts during the accident.
