Police issue 71 citations during patrols

The O’Fallon Police Department recently conducted DWI saturation patrols during the month of October. The patrols were conducted between October 15 and October 31. The saturation patrols were conducted in high DWI violation areas, as well as on state and city roadways. These areas included Mexico Road, Route M, Route K, Interstate 70, Interstate 64, Bryan Road, outer roads and the 364 South Outer Road. This effort was part of an ongoing effort to reduce impaired driving on O’Fallon roadways and included multiple officers working five hour overtime shifts.
During the DWI Saturation Patrols, a total of five (5) suspects were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. One suspect was arrested for an outstanding warrant and one suspect was arrested for possession of drugs. A total of 71 citations were issued during the 49 traffic stops conducted by officers.
Funding for this effort was provided through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Missouri Safety Center.
