The O’Fallon Police Department issued citations and made arrests during a grant-funded Red Light Violation enforcement detail on Jan. 25 between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Two teams of officers conducted a total of 63 traffic stops.

The detail was concentrated at the intersections of Veteran’s Memorial Parkway (South Outer 70) at Bryan Road as well as the intersection at Routes K and N. Both intersections are well-known as violation and crash locations.

Of the 76 citations issued, 47 were either red light violations or a failure to yield right-of-way on green light violations. In addition, two suspects were arrested on outstanding warrants and two were charged with driving on a suspended license.

Funding for the project was provided from a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Missouri Safety Center.
