O’Fallon’s Heritage & Freedom Fest 2011 will be held at the Ozzie Smith Sports Complex, 900 T.R. Hughes Boulevard, O’Fallon, MO 63366), on Saturday, July 2 (5–10 p.m.), Sunday, July 3 (noon–11 p.m.), and Monday, July 4 (noon–10 p.m.), with free admission, parking and shuttle service. Saturday night is designated as a Special Family Night focusing on carnival rides at discounted prices, a colorful midway, festival food, beverages and crafters.

“Traditionally, we celebrate our country’s terrific musical heritage with country bands on July 3rd, and rock and roll on July 4th. And, both nights are capped off by a fabulous fireworks display,” said Megan Steinmann, O’Fallon’s Festival Coordinator. “With the national bands we have performing at the festival, people are going to want to join the party and spend a great weekend with their families.”

On Sunday night, July 3rd, top billing goes to Nashville’s award-winning piano man, singer-songwriter Phil Vassar (“Just Another Day in Paradise”), and popular American Idol contestant Josh Gracin (“Nothin’ to Lose”), with regional bands Borderline and Rickie Lee Tanner performing country music on the Main Stage throughout the afternoon.

High-energy rock and roll party music will dominate the Main Stage on Monday, July 4, featuring festival headliner OK GO (“Here It Goes Again”), and special guest Tonic (“If You Could Only See”). Two of St. Louis ’ most popular bands, Contagious, and Vote for Pedro, will perform a wide variety of rock and roll and blues favorites in the afternoon.

In addition to the great music, O’Fallon’s Heritage and Freedom Festival also includes family-friendly shows, carnival rides, a midway, free kids’ activities, pony rides, crafters, and festival food and beverages. Fireworks will immediately follow the final concerts of the evening.

Kicking off Monday’s patriotic celebration, the annual Heritage & Freedom Fest Parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on July 4th from the corner of Main and Third Streets, head north on Main Street, turn east on Tom Ginnever, and end at T.R. Hughes Boulevard near the entrance to the festival grounds. The parade, which draws thousands of spectators, is one of the largest in the area, with prizes and trophies for winning floats.
