Pedestrians struck; investigation continues

It has been reported that Sister Elaine Lamm, 64, a member of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, died after she was struck by a car late on Friday; and Sister Marie Frances Wiederholt, 81, was injured in the accident.
The following was issued by the O’Fallon Police Department on Sunday, June 7:
On Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11:51 p.m., the O’Fallon Police responded to a vehicle accident in the 300 block of Main Street.
Initial accounts indicate that two pedestrians had just exited a bus after attending a local event and were crossing the street when a vehicle heading north on Main Street struck the two pedestrians.
Both pedestrians were transported to area hospitals by the St. Charles County Ambulance District.
The O’Fallon Police CRASH unit responded to conduct the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
