O’Fallon seeking volunteers for 3rd annual “King Day of Service”
January 9, 2011
O’Fallon, MO
With many government offices, banks and schools closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, on Monday, January 17, O’Fallon’s Volunteer Services Department is seeking volunteers to help with service projects that day from 9 a.m. – noon.
Volunteers will create tissue paper and origami flowers and decorate cards to be distributed to residents at local care facilities on Random Acts of Kindness Day, February 14. The projects are suitable for families, grandparents and grandchildren, college students on winter break, homeschoolers, individuals and business people.
“We are encouraging those who are available that Monday morning, and who wish to strengthen the community by uniting to achieve a common goal, to pre-register for this event,” said Alexis Jaegers, O’Fallon’s Volunteer Services Coordinator. “We are looking for as many as 100 volunteers, all of whom must pre-register to ensure that we have enough supplies on hand for everyone.”
To register for the King Day of Service, contact Volunteer Services at 636-379-5507 or volunteer@ofallon.mo.us. For more information about volunteering, visit www.ofallon.mo.us/volunteer.
