LIDAR Speed Enforcement Detail results

The O’Fallon Police Department recently conducted a grant funded LIDAR Speed Enforcement Detail on Tuesday, October 19. This detail focused on the problem of residential speeding in the Twin Chimney’s and Countryshire subdivisions. During this detail a total of 63 citations were issued and of those 54 were speeding violations. During the four-hour detail two teams of five officers worked in both subdivisions and conducted a total of 58 traffic stops.

There was also a two-day, non-grant funded, special enforcement detail conducted on Tuesday October 5 and Wednesday, October 6. This detail consisted of two motorcycle traffic officers doing LIDAR Speed Enforcement in several residential and school zones. The areas that were focused on were the Hutchings Farm subdivision, Monticello Estates subdivision and Homefield subdivision, along with school zones at Westhoff Elementary, Crossroads Elementary, Emge Elementary, Progress South Elementary and both Zumwalt West and North High Schools. During this detail a total of 84 citations were issued, of which 76 were speeding violations.

Funding for this effort was provided through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Missouri Safety Center.
