Driver leaves scene after rush hour accident

On Monday, Dec. 14, at about 5:25 p.m., Nichole B. Royer, 21, of O’Fallon, was heading westbound on Interstate 70, east of Mid Rivers Mall Drive in a 1989 Buick Park Avenue.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Royer was slowed for traffic when another vehicle struck the rear of the car she was driving. The impact caused the front of the Buick Park Avenue to strike the rear of the vehicle ahead of it, a 2009 Ford Escape, driven by Adrienne N. Mills, 24, of Jefferson City.

The driver of the vehicle which caused the first impact left the scene. This person’s identity is unknown.

Royer suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Hospital East.

Royer and Mills were both wearing seatbelts during the accident.
